William Webster Broach “Web”, 78, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Monday June 25, 2012 at the Florida Hospital Lake Placid. He was born on December 20, 1933 in Dunbrook, VA to parents Ruth (Johnson) and Hutchinson. Web served his country in the US Air Force and was stationed in Japan. He retired from IBM after 31 years of employment as a customer engineer. He was a member of the Florida Fly Wheelers and a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Placid. Web enjoyed collecting and restoring antique tractors as well as gardening. He was predeceased by his son, Barry and is survived by his loving children, Diane Forthuber (Stephen) and Clifton Broach (Bonnie); grandchildren Ashley and Peyton Forthuber; a brother, Marvin Broach and sister, Elsie Mayo (Bill); and friend Emma Jenkins. A gathering for the family and friends will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Friday June 29, 2012 with funeral services following at 11:00 AM at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid with Pastor Mike Ford officiating and military honors presented by the VFW Post 4300 Honor Guard. Burial will be private at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. The family suggest donations be made in Web’s memory to the American Cancer Society, Florida Division 3709 W. Jetton Avenue, Tampa, FL 33629.
